The Global Majority Writing Collective (GMWC) is an abolitionist non-hierarchical writing group rooted in Black love and liberation, accessibility, ancestral wisdom, consent and abundance. We intend to grow into a sustainable and accessible writing group where each member’s creative needs are heard and held by others. The GMWC is a place where writers of color can grow and evolve our craft and stories through our collective wisdom.

Introducing GMWC Sunrise

✳︎6 Month Cross-Genre Writing Cohort✳︎

Over the course of 6 months, 12 cohort members (including facilitators) will meet weekly, every Friday evening, over Zoom. Meetings will include media studies, guided writing time, writing-only sessions, feedback workshops, and artist training sessions around business skills for artists. We ask that all cohort members do their best, as accessibility and capacity allow, to attend all sessions including the cohort feedback workshops, so that we can give each member equal opportunities for various perspectives and feedback on their work. Two times a month, there will be sessions dedicated to body doubling and quiet writing, interspersed chatting with a less structured, more relaxed approach. All sessions will take place on Zoom, most Fridays, from 6 pm – 8:30 pm CST.
